Design-Led Protection in London’s Luxury Quarter
The Challenge
Gucci’s Sloane Street flagship sits within one of London’s most refined luxury retail environments. The street’s architectural coherence, managed public realm, and global brand presence create high expectations for design quality and customer experience.
Following increased ram-raid risk across prime retail districts, Gucci required a reactive enhancement to strengthen storefront resilience. The solution needed to:
- Deliver certified hostile vehicle mitigation performance
- Preserve the open, welcoming character of the boutique
- Maintain uninterrupted visibility to window displays
- Align with Cadogan Estate’s streetscape vision
- Avoid introducing visually intrusive security infrastructure
Protection had to function as part of the architectural language — not as an overlay.
The Unfaor LUXE Response
The Core
Unafor specified a bespoke Unafor Core system, engineered for certified impact resistance while maintaining a refined visual profile.
The units were designed at approximately 600mm above finished floor level, preserving sightlines and reinforcing the storefront’s openness. Performance was embedded within proportion, ensuring the solution aligned with both operational and aesthetic requirements.
Each protective element was sleeved in high-grade 316 stainless steel, selected for durability, corrosion resistance, and visual compatibility with the surrounding public realm improvements led by Cadogan Estate.
Operational flexibility was also integrated: the system allows deployment and removal by Gucci’s on-site team as required, balancing daytime openness with after-hours resilience.
Delivery
Delivery required careful coordination within a high-profile retail corridor.
Unafor collaborated closely with Crowdguard, our UK partner and coordinated with:
- Gucci’s project leadership and security teams
- Cadogan Estate, aligning with streetscape objectives
- Local authorities, ensuring compliance within the managed urban setting
Installation was executed with precision to minimise disruption to trading and pedestrian movement.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Sloane Street represents a curated retail environment where architectural consistency and public realm quality are closely managed.
By engaging early with architects and estate stakeholders, Unafor ensured that certified protection was integrated into the broader urban framework. Technical detailing, finish selection, and placement were refined collaboratively to maintain both performance standards and design integrity.
This approach reflects Unafor’s commitment to Urban Safety for Liveable Cities — enhancing resilience without diminishing the civic and commercial qualities that define luxury destinations.
The Result
- Visual openness and brand experience preserved
- Alignment with Cadogan Estate’s streetscape strategy
- Operationally flexible deployment
- Discreet integration into one of London’s most prestigious retail avenues
Gucci Sloane Street demonstrates how security, when engineered and designed with intent, strengthens confidence while sustaining the architectural character of prime urban retail.
Refine Protection. Preserve Presence.
